Smiles galore
There is a smile of love,
And there is a smile of deceit,
And there is a smile of smiles
In which these two smiles meet;

Ganpati Pulay
Ganapati Pulay...... a small little village on the Konkan coast line with pristine waters and very calm and balmy surroundings. Also famous there is the Ganesh temple. Took this contre-jour shot in one of the many palm and coconut groves that dot the Konkan coastline. Lived in the MTDC resort at the beach and every morning that we were there, we were greeted by the sight of beautiful beach and every night slept with the sounds of the waves.

Spotted some fishermen throwing their nets in the water.
Flower
Another red flower from the archives. This flower was in the "carnivorous flowers" exhibit at the Singapore Botanic Garden. You cant think of something so beautiful munching on animals. (LOL)

Singapore skyline
This is the skyline of Singapore at sunset. I took this with a point-and-shoot. No melodramatic colors as it was threatening to be a bleak and rainy evening. But The beauty of the whole scene was totally breathtaking.

Beauty in rugged terrain
I live in Pune..... a plateau surrounded on all sides by hills and mountains. For me growing up included trekking these hills and being totally enamored by the scenery...... which forever keeps changing. I took this pic with a point-and-shoot in Lonavala, a hill station very close to Pune. The hills were covered with a beautiful green carpet of grass and there was this strange looking leafless moss covered tree growing out of nowhere among the rocks. A couple sat ensconced in the middle of all this totally oblivious of everything and everyone.

I caught sight of these little flowers in Singapore at the Orchid Garden. They weren't among the highlighted flowers but I thought it was most beautiful.

Softie
The best part of photographing Sofites is that they don't crib!!!! Put them anywhere hold them anyway..... take hours putting them in sun or shade...... they don't utter one cribby word. This is my favorite softie..... (I have lots and lots of them) She looks dumb..... but very cute!!!

Flamingos
Flamingos are my favorite birds. Not only because they are beautiful but because of their migratory nature. We have them in India around March in Sewri in Mumbai. These days their numbers have dwindled so for the last few years photographing them has been banned. I took this pic with a point-and-shoot at Singapore zoo. I love the vibrant colors of the birds: A GIFT of nature...... I'd love to add flowers and vibrant skies as well but these beautiful birds take ur breath away....... Simply brilliant!!!
Sunsets from Goa Beach
Another pic of the sunsets of Goa from Calangute beach.
Another page from Nature's bountiful beauty totally unedited. I didn't even crop this one. Fabulous and the shimmering sea

Giving and Receiving
These three pics are my version of giving and receiving. It shows hands offering prayers and flowers and taking blessings. I am Hindu. We believe that the fire is the most pure element and hence we seek blessings from it.
Posting it in FMTSO
Flowers and leaves (Basil and Bael) are offered to the deity.
Flowers are a very important feature in all prayers. Check here for more details.
Receiving blessings from the Aarti.

Jejuri
These pics are from Jejuri and the main temple of Khandoba. The Temple finds its uniqueness by the 450 or more stairs that you have to climb to get there and also by the 350 deepmalas. I haven't yet seen one single temple that houses sooooooo many deepmalas. The other factor that amazed me was the crowds of people that flank the place on sundays. I actually returned back after seeing the throngs of people...... lacs and lacs of them......... and had to make another trip another day just to go up.
Posting it in Our World Tuesday.
This is the main entrance to the temple after you have climbed all the 450 which seemed much much much more to me.
This is a view of the steps which lead you to the main gabhara or temple which houses the idols.
This is the final leg of the stairs.

Blue Skies and blue water
I took this pic in Goa and Anjuna beach. Just close to the water there was this shack and this lone coconut tree. There were more coconut trees some feet away but I was visually able to cut this one off the rest and it gave the impression of a lone viewer of the seas..... it kinda looked isolated, sage and ponderous. I went click click click.
Flowers from the fences.
This particular flower grows in the fences of a building I pass by. It withers immediately if you pick it. I don't really know the name of this flower. But what attracted me to these flowers were its purple stamens. That made it really unique.

Football in the rain
This pic is from the archives a month back when we had torrential rains. A group of kids thought it was a great day for some soccer in the rain. It brought a lot of cheer on an otherwise gloomy day...... a candid long shot from my terrace.... clarity of the pic is compromised because of the darkness and the rain.

Candid shots of a Family having a picnic lunch.
I saw this small family enjoying a picnic lunch in the shade of a tree on a hot summer afternoon. I love the anticipation in the eyes of all three members of the family as the mother open the box of goodies. Even the youngest member of the family...... It was very endearing!!!
Posting it as an entry for Photo Friday
Se Cathedral
This pic was taken in my recent trip to Goa. This white building is the Se Cathedral. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Catherine more details in the lower pic. I found this church particularly peaceful especially the statue of Jesus which graced the lawn in front of the church. You can see it here.

Friday Skywatch
Took this picture from the terrace of my home. This is again another page from nature's bounty. I haven't edited the picture one bit only cropped it from the top. The sky usually seems to have all these myriad of colors after a brief spell of rain.
